Many people who buy lights want to buy brighter ones, so they will choose lights with higher power (wattage). For example, if the original one was 10W, but they find it not bright enough, they will replace it with a 20W.

But in fact, the higher the wattage of a lamp, the brighter it may not necessarily be. Wattage is not a unit of brightness, it represents the amount of electricity consumed by a light source when it reaches a certain luminous intensity (luminous flux).

 

The traditional way of judging the luminous intensity of a light source based on its wattage may not be accurate in practice, as different levels of technology may result in A brand's 9W lamp not yet as bright as B brand's 4W lamp.

 

In fact, the unit of luminous intensity is not power, but a concept called luminous flux.

 

Luminous flux: The total amount of light energy emitted from various angles of a light source, measured in lumens (lm).

Generally speaking, the higher the luminous flux of the same light source, the higher the illuminance (the luminous flux received per unit area), and the brighter it becomes.

And our artificial light source reaches your work surface, which is about 2000lx, much lower than under the shade of trees and cloudy days. But in some home lights that you find dazzling, their illumination may only be 200-500lx.

So there is no absolute causal relationship between glare and brightness. In the case of direct light, the brighter the light, the more dazzling it will be.

 

As long as artificial light has undergone sufficient diffusion treatment, such as the diffuse reflection side emission of our Youco lighting, there is generally no need to worry about glaring issues.
